Activism, the Internet, and Chickens

The LA Times has a profile of Virgil Butler, a former chicken "killer" (his word) at a Tyson Foods processing plant, who has a website dedicated to exposing the dark side of the industry. (I guess the industry is one giant dark side...we just choose to ignore it most of the time.) The site, which is hosted by blogspot, is largely a memoir of sorts detailing different incidents he remembers. Since he was killing 80,000 chickens per shift, he has a lot of graphic memories. Other posts on the site are more explicitly political in nature, such as those detailing various scandals at Tyson. Tyson says many of his stories are lies.
