The Beyoncification of Mimi
When you head to the local Coconuts to pick up your copy of the new Mariah Carey album, "The Emancipation of Mimi", you might find the cover oddly familiar.
Particularly if you watched last year's Video Music Awards.
Surprise! The photoshopped woman on the cover of Mariah's album is not actually Beyonce - it is Mariah herself. Kind of. With a shortened nose and jaw line, and whittled torso and legs.
This isn't the first time the two songbirds have collided; in fact, Beyonce seems to have modeled one cover shoot on a much less well received Mariah project.
Do longer legs and blonde extensions really equal album sales? Mariah's current Beyonce-plasty sure looks like a success. "The Emancipation of Mimi" is receiving better reviews than any of her recent albums, and it's selling strongly.
Or maybe the real lesson is that if a girl really wants a platinum album, she should do her best to look like she's on the cover of a dragon-themed fantasy novel.
