Lena Dunham: a voice of a generation
Here's a trailer for Lena Dunham's new series on HBO, "Girls". If it's as good as it looks, it's my new favorite show that I won't get to watch for another 18 months when HBO gets around to releasing the DVD.
A few notable cast members:
- Becky Ann Baker, who played the mom on "Freaks and Geeks" and is currently playing the mom on "Smash", playing the mom.
- The insane friend with the British affectation and Jed the love interest from Dunham's wonderful movie Tiny Furniture.
- Chris O'Dowd.
- And (I think) the woman who plays Joyce, Peggy's photographer friend on "Mad Men" is in there for a second.
Lena Dunham's line delivery somehow achieves a balance of self-confident, self-righteous, needy, wry, and deadpan, which magically adds up to funny and likable. She's amazing.
